Certificate:  Gas Technician 3 and Gas Technician 2

Register for both the Gas Technician 3 Co-op and the Gas Technician 2 Co-op Programs and complete your Gas Technician 2 certification in 19 weeks.  This is an entry level program for those individuals wishing to start a career in the HVAC trade, or those seeking to upgrade their skills in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning industry (HVAC).

A G3 certificate allows the holder to work under supervision on natural gas or propane fired equipment up to 400,000 Btuh only.

The holder of a G2 certificate may install, inspect, alter, purge, activate, repair, service or remove a natural gas or propane appliance that has an input of 400,000 Btuh or less and the equipment and accessories essential to its operation, without supervision.

Course Outline: These HVAC programs cover the G3 and the G2 modules 1 to 24 and the applicable codes, acts and regulations.  Students will take part in both theoretical and practical studies, to provide them with the full knowledge of the skills, safety procedures and theories they will require as Gas Technician 2 certificate holder.  This is a full-time 19 week program (alternating one week in class with one week in the field at a co-op placement company).  Once the students have successfully completed their training, they will have gained hands on skills, contacts in the industry, on the job experience and a Gas Technician 2 certificate.  As part of the program we also offer job search assistance.

Exams:  The theory and practical examinations will be given by HiMark upon completion of the course, at our location.

Pre-Requisite:  Have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent; or Be at least 18 years of age and pass a Superintendent approved qualifying test

  • B149.1 – Natural Gas & Propane Installation Code
