Description | This is an entry level program for those who wish to start a career or upgrade their skills in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry. It is a 19 week program where students will take part in both theoretical and practical studies by alternating one week in class with one week in the field at a local co-op placement company. A Gas Technician 3 (G3) license will enable you to work under supervision on any natural gas or propane fired equipment. Upgrading to a Gas Technician 2 (G2) license will enable you to install, inspect, alter, purge, activate, repair, service or remove a natural gas or propane appliance that has an input of 400,000 Btuh or less without supervision in residential and commercial applications. Examples: Furnaces, Fireplaces, Water Heaters, Pool Heaters, Stoves, Clothes Dryer, etc. As part of the program we also offer job search assistance. |

Description | This is a preparation course for individuals who will be attempting the 313A Certification of Qualifications (C of Q) Examination administered by the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT). Individuals who are currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program and want a review before writing the C of Q exam are highly recommended to register! A 313A Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic license will enable you to work on any cooling and heating-cooling combination systems including geo-exchange systems in residential, industrial, commercial and institutional settings. Specifically, you will be able to plan, lay out, install, start-up, maintain, service, repair, test, verify, commission and decommission refrigeration and AC systems, electronic components and their accessories. In Ontario, the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade is also a part of the Interprovincial Red Seal Program. Furthermore, you do not need to have a 313D license before you can attempt the 313A C of Q exam. |

Description | This is an approved 1-day environmental awareness training program designed for individuals who would like to obtain an Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) card. This includes those who let their original card expire and would like to get a new one. By law, only a certified technician can remove, handle and dispose refrigerants that contain ozone depleting substances and other hydrocarbons. The Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Card entitles the holder to purchase and handle CFC/HCFC/HFC refrigerants and hydrocarbons. |
Course Outline | This program will allow students to understand environmentally-correct equipment design, proper handling of refrigerants and how to comply with Federal and Provincial Regulations covering refrigeration and AC systems. The Ministry of Labour specifies that those who use any of the following methods of fall protection should complete a Working at Heights course: • Travel Restraint Systems • Fall Restricting Systems • Fall Arrest Systems • Safety Nets • Work Belts • Safety Belts This training requirement is in addition to existing training requirements for workers who use fall protection systems on construction projects. Workplace safety should be taken seriously, and we strongly encourage everyone to attend a Working at Heights course even if your workplace is not covered by the Construction Projects Regulation. |
Course Outline | This course is a blended-learning program that consists two parts by incorporating online delivery and in-person practical instruction. Part 1 consists an online training session that covers basic theory and safety measures pertaining to working at heights. Part 2 consists in-class training held at our campus locations upon completing Part 1. Students will learn about the different safety equipment and its proper usage through real life examples to gain practical experience. |
Exam | Students will write a certification exam at our location upon completion of the course. |
